Table Talk – Thanksgiving

Watch This:

Try this: Give each family member an index card or sheet of paper. Ask everyone to list five things they are thankful for in their life. Tell them they will share their list in a moment. After everyone has been able to make their list, announce that before they share their list, each family member gets one guess at what they think each person has put on their list. After everyone has guessed, each person reveals their list.

Say This: Being thankful is a choice.  It is simply choosing to be   positive, and being content with what you have.  Whether things are good or bad, we can all find plenty of things to be thankful for.       Lets read how the Psalmist expressed his thanksgiving.

Read This: Psalm 100—A psalm  for giving grateful praise.

1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the Lord is God.  It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Ask This:

– Why do you think it is important to be thankful?

– When is it hard for you to be thankful?

– What we can do to help us be thankful during those difficult times?

Pray This:Dear Father in Heaven, Thank you for waking us up this morning.  Thank you for giving us a day that wasn’t promised.  Today we want to say, “Thank you.” We are thankful for our faith in You.  Please surprise us with Your mercy, love, and power.  We are thankful for family and friends, so inspire greater forgiveness and care.  We are thankful for freedom, so please grace our land with humility, peace and justice.  We are thankful for food, so give us gratitude that overflows into compassion.  Thank you that every good gift comes graciously from You.  Amen.”
